This section contains VELUX Energy and Indoor Climate Visualizer examples. For each example, the type and location is indicated, and the issues which are in focus for each is shown.
VELUX Energy and Indoor Climate Visualizer Demo
Effect of ventilation rate on heating demand The example investigates the effect on the heating deamnd of increasing the ventilation rate from 0.5 ACH to 0.7 ACH. A house in Stockholm, Sweden, is investigated with VELUX Energy and Indoor Climate Visualizer. The heating demand is determined for a ventilation rate of 0.5 and 0.7 ACH. Download Example

Summer ventilation The VELUX Energy and Indoor Climate Visualizer is used to find the effect of summer ventilation in a house in Stockholm. The ventilation flows achieved per window are in the range of 40-70 l/s when the windows are used to maintain a pleasant temperature and the ventilation rate of the house is in the range of 5-8 ACH where 15 windows are opened. Ventilation with window airings The example investigates which ventilation rate that can be achieved with different ways of using windows for airings. Ventilation rates achieved with airing are calculated with the VELUX Energy and Indoor Climate Visualizer. Four windows are used for airing, and the ventilation rates achieved with single sided airings, cross ventilation and stack ventilation are found for a summer and a winter situation. Two daily airings of 10 minutes each are performed. The house is located in Berlin, Germany. Download Example

Effect of ventilation rate on indoor air quality A house in London, England is investigated with VELUX Energy and Indoor Climate Visualizer. The house is occupied by five persons, and has an internal floor area of 175 m². The CO2-level used as indicator of air quality, and it is determined for two constant air change rates: 0.3 ACH and 0.5 ACH. Download Example

  |
Background ventilation with ventilation flap The example investigates which background ventilation rate that can be achieved with different numbers of roof windows per floor area. Two ratios of windows to floor area are used, i.e. 10% and 20%. The house is in Berlin, Germany. Download Example

Effects of installing extra VELUX roof windows This case study shows how the EIC Visualizer is used to investigate the effect on the building’s energy demand, when extra VELUX roof windows are installed in an existing one-family house in Prague. Download Example

  |
Improving daylight performance This case uses the EIC Visualizer in combination with the Daylight Visualizer 2 to analyse a typical French house. The house has poor daylight performance, and a proposal is made which improves the daylight performance. The energy performance of the base case and the proposal is analysed, and a configuration of windows and shading is identified which optimises the energy performance. Download Example

Importance of window location This case analyses the importance of window location with regards to the daylight performance and electricity use for lighting for a typical Danish house. One among other conclusions is that a configuration with both facade windows and roof windows performs as well as a configuration with 50% more window area, when all windows are facade windows. The EIC Visualizer is used in combination with the Daylight Visualizer 2 to analyse the daylight distribution and to calculate the electricity demand. Download Example
